Waterfront space is not only an important manifestation of urban ecosystem and environmental upgrading, but also an important carrier of carrying urban activities, carrying out urban functions and reflecting urban image. The land used for the project was a beach land under the north bridge head of Wanzhou Second Yangtze River Bridge. It covers an area of about 50,000 square meters and is located in the ebb and flow zone. The size of the land block varies with the rise and fall of water level, and has been in a barren state for a long time.

When we design the waterfront space of the Second Yangtze River Bridge in Wanzhou District of Chongqing, we put forward the idea of restoring the original style of waterfront space, eco-natural low-carbon landscape, and create an ecological waterfront park with harmonious coexistence of human, nature and city. The design fully demonstrates the cultural nature of waterscape landscape, combines contemporary culture and art with regional waterfront culture, thus arousing people's nostalgia for waterfront culture and adding new business cards to the city.

Developing "Elastic Landscape Design" with the Change of Water Level Line           

According to different water levels, three thematic landscape experience zones are created: public recreation zone, ecological slope protection zone and natural beach zone. The park scenery shows various effects with the change of time and water environment.

01. Public amusement area: "healthy life", keywords: "health" and "leisure".           

In areas above 175m elevation, local elevation of the current topography, creating sunny lawn, children's sand pit, grassland steps, bicycle ring road and other multi-functional landscape space for people's leisure experience.           
 

The design elevation is 175-173m, which will create wetland landscape, rain garden, plant wetland plants, and make use of the natural beach formed by river erosion to create a hydrophilic space suitable for barbecue and camping.

02. Ecological slope protection area: "ecological technology", key words: "green shoreline".           

Strengthen the existing slope protection, and carry out ecological rehabilitation, to create a natural ecological green slope protection landscape.

03. Natural beach area: "resource regeneration", key words: "nature" and "wild interest".           

Reserving the existing natural beach land, minimizing interference in the ecological environment of the river beach, local reinforcement and botanical treatment on the basis of the original rigid slope protection, and realizing the ecological green coastline.

The design of this project is bold and innovative, and has achieved very good social and landscape effects. Now the project has become a hot spot for local citizens to play and relax. The project has reasonable design function, simple material, comfortable and pleasant space, natural environment and ecology, which not only improves the quality of urban environment, but also is a successful demonstration point of riverside ebb and flow area.
